Reviews
Ijmuiden is located on the north-eastern coast of Netherlands. This town of approximately 28,600 inhabitants has been a flourishing industrial harbour; it has recently started attracting visitors owing to the beautiful landscapes of the surrounding areas.
Ijmuiden enjoys warm summers with the average temperature in July and August being 23°C. Winters can be pretty severe with temperatures reaching the freezing point. Maximum precipitation is during winter though light showers are spread across the year.
The region was an important port in the times of the Romans, which then went into decline. Till 150 years ago, this region was a plain area occupied by a few farming communities. A canal was created in a bid to connect Amsterdam to the seas, and this led to the development of the town of Ijmuiden.
