On the south side of the city is the “green belt” of parks; City
Park, Faliezusters Park, Mgr. Nolens Park, Aldenhofpark, and Waldeck Park. Many
parks are enclosed by parts of the city’s old fortifications. There is
also a wide variety of European trees (a number provided with a nameplate),
fountains, aviaries and duck ponds.
