Nijmegen: Attractions and more...
This museum falls in the category of ‘archaeology and art museums’. It has been in to existence since the year 1999; created in the form of a merger; that too, between ‘GM Kam Museum of Archaeology’ and ‘Commanderie van St. Jan Museum of classical and modern art’. Collection of the museum is inclusive of an important and a huge constellation of Roman archaeological finds as well as arts. As the name suggests, this museum goes on to have stood on edge of ‘Valkof Park’; i.e. site of ‘Roman army camp’ and ‘citadel’ constructed by ‘Charlemagne’. The building had been designed by Bam van Berkel, an architect of Ducth origin. It was opened in the year 1999 on 14th of September by ‘Queen Beatrix’.
