The city, with its wide expanse of beaches and scenic beauty, is a popular tourist location. It is home to a number of historic sites including the St. Jereon Church, Raadhuis, Lindenplein, Lindenhof and St. Jorisdoelen.
The spectacular museum of Oud Noordwijk is a must-visit. The city is also home to a number of open-dune landscapes like the Noordwijk Noordduinen and Coepelduynen. The resort of Noordwijk aan Zee houses a 13-km beach and freshwater lakes, highly popular among foreign tourists.
For all the nature enthusiasts, a visit to the Jan Verwey Natuurcentrum is a must. The city also hosts a number of events and festivals, some of the popular ones being the Berghpop 2007 and Tiger Balm Beachrun. The Touristmarket and the Curiomarket are also popular.
The city also houses the European Space Research and Technology Centre, which is a part of the European Space Agency. It regularly organises several space exhibitions for the visitors.
