Only a five-minute walk from Coolsingel and the Erasmus Bridge, you will find
the Maritime Museum Rotterdam. In addition to a wide range of changing exhibitions
and events, the museum also has permanent collections. For example, the big
new exhibition for young and old 'I name you...-shipbuilding in Holland'. In
‘World Port – Port World’ you get an impression of the Rotterdam
docks. The museum collection consists of one million maritime objects. These
include including ship models, pictures, charts, navigational instruments and
ship’s furniture.
FUN FOR KIDS
Children from 4-12 years
are welcome at 'Professor Plons'. Young visitors can experiment and explore
here, inside as well as on the outside terrace.
RAM VESSEL DE BUFFEL
Next
to the museum the 19th-century ram De Buffel is moored. It has been restored
to its original condition. The officers’ quarters are furnished in the
style of the time and various objects tell more about life on board, early navigation,
etc. The bookshop and museum café with outside terrace complete the picture.
