With more than 1.3 million visitors every year, Rotterdam Zoo is one of the
most popular attractions in Holland. A stroll through the Zoo will take you
to different continents. Here you will see many different animals that feel
perfectly at home in their imitation surroundings.
OCEANIUM
The
first phase of Oceanium was recently completed. At this attraction you travel
along coasts and through areas of the North Sea, the Atlantic Ocean and the
Caribbean region. You can also admire the Sea of Cortes and the kelp forests
of the California coast. Here you will 'meet' Colorado toads, starfish, leopard
sharks and sea lions. One of the best attractions is the 22-metre long shark
tunnel where different sharks stolidly swim by. The Oceanium was completed with
the cold regions of the Falkland Islands: home of the beautiful king penguins.
GORILLA ISLAND
From the African viewpoints visitors have a splendid
view over the gorilla island with its climbing trees and rocks.
EVEN
IN POOR WEATHER CONDITIONS...
Rotterdam Zoo is also worth a visit when
the weather lets you down. You can visit the indoor Oceanium, for example, the
Riviera Hall or the tropical Taman Indah forest.
