The wool industry has died but the city’s Dutch Textile Museum shows how wool is transformed into material by undergoing various processes; permanent displays trace the rise and fall of the wool industry. The Museum de Pont is housed in an old woollen textiles factory and has collections of contemporary art on display. Efteling, the largest theme park in the Benelux nations, has enough attractions for a day trip.
Tilburg has a large student population and thus has a busy nightlife with many cafes, bars and pubs scattered across the city.
The Tilburg funfair is the largest of its kind in Europe. It lasts for two weeks during July, and all sorts of activities like fortune tellers, food stalls and other activities are a part of this event. Monday during the fair week is known as the ‘Pink Monday’ and is a gay festival within the main festival.
