The Centraal museum was founded in 1838, which makes this the oldest museum in Netherlands. This museum has a large and varied number of art collections which are divided into five departments. Some of the collections are the Van Baaren collection, the costumes and fashion catalogue documents with almost 8000 costumes, jewelry items and accessories. There are also pre 1850 era paintings which highlight some of the collections of paintings for the general public.
