Fredrikstad can be described as a city as well as municipality located in ‘Ostfold County, Norway’.
Fredrikstad was discovered in the year 1567 by none other than ‘King Fredrik II’. It obtained the status of a ‘municipality’ on 1st of January, 1838. Glemenn, one of the rural municipalities got merged with this city on the 1st day of the year in the year 1964. Borge, Rolvsoy, Krakeroy, and Onsay got merged with ‘Fredrikstad’ on 1st of January, 1994.

Fredrikstad was known for having a huge sawmill industry. Moreover, it was an essential harbor with regards to timber export. Later on, it was used for shipbuilding, till main yard got closed in 1980s.
