Packing List: This city is truly unique. Its colors and flavors always surprise. If you go in the summer you should dress in layers because the temperature ranges a lot, although at peak times the weather is quite good. In winter you need really heavy clothes because the cold is biting!

Getting Around: You can use the public transport which is perfect both in terms of punctuality and hygiene. You can get to any part of the city, it runs both night and day and the tram and metro are affordable. Tickets are easily found and there are no parking problems.

Packing List: The climate is highly variable, you change from short-sleeves to a wool sweater in an instant. There's always wind and there are also the showers, even if they don't last long, so don't forget your raincoat.

Best Period to Go: I recommend going in July or August for the temperature, the parties, less rain, the availability of hotel rooms, the museums are open, there's more sun, the people are more open, the transport is efficient, the food is good, there are very beautiful natural surroundings, the streets feel safe and are never very crowded.

Eating and Drinking: The city is very expensive, I really don't recommend the sushi place near the university featured in Lonely Planet because it's completely inedible! The market near the port and Aker's Brygge are very nice, though. We also ate a kind of whale-steak, with our conscience bothering us somewhat, and it's very good, it almost seems like a fillet of beef, but obviously not bloody.

Getting Around: I recommend the bus as a means of transport, or renting a bike or taking the train. The trains are punctual and well-maintained. Go around the centre on foot, after having visited the tourist information centre, located near the train station. The ferry ride is good too.

Best Period to Go: The best time to go is in the summer, July or August, the temperature is perfect and there are wonderful sunny days! You take full advantage of the "open city by the sea" with a whole fjord to navigate! There are outdoor restaurants and people out walking from morning until night. It's a young city and it's very easy to get around.

Not to miss: The live music at Blå is great, it's a bar which often hosts international level musicians. Take a look at the picturesque installations in the surrounding area. Finally, take a walk along the Akersava, a scenic waterway that winds through the city, creating views that will make you wonder whether you are really in the middle of a big city.

Not to miss:  Many museums are located in the city centre. The Edward Munch Museum displays an extensive collection of the artists’ works including art, sculpture, photographs, prints, etc. The Frogner Park and the Vigeland Sculpture Park are open-air museums located within a large park, displaying many sculptures, carved gates and other creations. The Viking Ship Museum houses three original vessels from the Viking period. The Akershus Castle and Fortress is one of the city’s oldest structures; it still serves as military headquarters but is open to visitors.
Holmenkollen is a hilly ski ... More recreation area and is well known for its ski jump. One of the world’s oldest ski museums and a lookout tower with great views of the city are found here.
Tonsberg, Norway’s oldest town, makes for a good one-day trip. It is a popular summer retreat and the surrounding region is home to many interesting museums and other historical sites.

General opinion:  Oslo is the capital city of Norway. This city of approximately 550,000 inhabitants is considered to be one of the largest capital cities in the world in terms of the area covered.
Oslo has a continental climate. Summers are pleasant; the average temperature in July and August is 21°C. Winters are severe and long with heavy snowfall, and the temperature stays consistently below 0°C.
One end of the region is covered with forest area. The city centre lies on the other end close to the bay and in between is the residential area. The Oslo port is the largest cargo ... More port of Norway and an important player in the city’s economy.
The original settlement was a little away from the current location. But, since that area was susceptible to fires, the city was rebuilt at its current location.

Not to miss: Oslo really is the best. Not only are there wonderful campgrounds in the vicinity where you can stay in comfortable hytters, small wooden houses equipped with everything, but the Vigeland Park is the main attraction for me. Being the most expensive country in the world everything is expensive, for instance, a coffee is €2.50.
