Nobel Peace Center

Located next to the beautiful fjord of Oslo, the Nobel Peace Center is the official museum to showcase the Nobel Peace Prize and all that it stands for in contemporary society. It is also a place where culture and politics can come together to encourage involvement, debate and reflection around topics such as war, peace and conflict resolution.

The building itself is old and beautiful, as it used to be a train station from the 1870’s. Inside the Nobel Peace Center, one can become educated on the life and achievements of Alfred Nobel, but also on all of the winners of his famous prize, and what their accomplishments meant to the world.

The museum employs excellent use of multimedia presentations, and offers several electronically interactive exhibits. The Nobel Peace Center is open every day from 10 am to 6 pm, but is closed on Mondays. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, but they will not allow you to take photos anywhere inside the museum. As it is very dense with information, the Nobel Peace Center is not for casual visitors just looking to meander through, but for those who are trying to read, hear, and absorb everything they can about its exhibits.
