Reviews Sofienberg
Sofienberg
Situated in Oslo’s inner city, the district of Sofienberg is a well-known area, rich in Norwegian culture and history. Given its name in the early 19th century, this neighborhood is also packed full of homes and apartment buildings. If you’re thinking about relocating to Oslo, Sofienberg may be one of the districts you want to check out, as it offers an urban setting with a serene environment.
Because of its unique position, Sofienberg not only offers access to many of Oslo's central cafes and restaurants, but also several parks and recreational areas. The district is also home to one of the more prominent Jewish cemeteries in Europe, which was able to endure throughout World War II. The site is located in the scenic Sofienbergparken (Sofienberg Park), which also offers a popular dog park, as well as a handful of educational and historic monuments.
For families, the area presents stellar public schools, as well as many churches. Sofienberg is also not short on options for family entertainment. A fun fact about Sofienberg Church is that (due to its superb acoustics) it regularly hosts a wide variety of musical performances, not just for religious ceremonies.
