The National Museum of Poznan (or Muzeum Naradowe w Poznaniu) is regarded as a national institution of culture and one of the largest museums in the country.  First established in 1857, the museum houses a rich collection of Italian, Spanish, Dutch and German paintings and is also home to numismatic collections and a gallery of applied arts.  There’s also a gallery dedicated to the history of Poznan and a fascinating one on modern paintings and sculptures.  English-speaking tour guides are also available, but you have to book ahead.

If you are in Poznan, this really is a great museum to check out.  Unlike many other cultural centers in Poland, there are English and international translations on many exhibits and displays.  Located on Aleje Karola Marcinkowskiego, it is open everyday from 11:00am to 5:00pm (from 9:00pm on Friday nights) with admission costing 12 zloty for adults and 8 zloty for children.  For more information, contact +48 61 85 68 117.
