Located between Dolna Wilda and Droga Debinska streets in Poznan, Park Jana Pawla II was named after Poland’s most famous son and is a popular park in the area for local residents who want to relax or engage in recreational activities.
First established in 1970, it didn’t receive it’s current name until 1983 when Pope John Paul II visited the area. During his visit, over one million excited visitors (the most ever in the park’s history) came to get their glimpse at the Polish Pope, who blessed the park.
The park received a recent facelift in 2008 and is a popular hang out spot for young people, families, and those who looking to set up impromptu summer day parties, grills, and picnics. There’s also a nearby parking lot for out-of-town guests.
