The Jezyce Neighborhood in Poznan is one of the five governmental districts that divided the city during the Communist era and which has been retained for the city’s administrative purposes today. Located in the northwestern part of the city, it neighbors the Stare MIasto district to the east and Grunwald to the south.
Established at around the turn of the 20th century, Jezyce was a separate village until the expansion of the city’s boundaries in 1900. Poznan’s largest lake, Jezioro Kierskie, calls Jezyce home as well as The Olimpia Complex of Sports Facilities (which includes a tennis venue and motorcycle speedway track). About 81,300 residents live in the area, with multiple shops, grocery stores, and restaurants available for tourists. There is also a Jezyce Market, New Theatre (Teatr Nowy) and Rialto Cinema.
