Ostrow Tumski Island is situated between the Cubina and the Warta River. It is known as the oldest part of the city and is the place where Poznan was founded. The foundation took place in the 10th century. Moreover, it is also said that the first bishopric in Poland was established here in 966 or 967. St. Peter’s and St. Paul’s Cathedral too dated from the 14th century and is situated at this very Island.
