Tourist Guide Szczecin
Szczecin, also known as the ‘City of Greenery’, is a major port city in north-west Poland. It is located in Szczecin Bay and is the capital of the new Western Pomeranian Province. The city is located on the banks of the Oder River, south of the Lagoon of Szczecin and on the border of three forests: Bukowa, Goleniowska and Wkrzanska.
Temperatures in Szczecin range from -2°C in the cold and cloudy winters to nearly 25°C in the mild summers. Frequent thundershowers and rain is typical of Polish summers.
With a population of nearly 500,000 residents, the city is an important shipbuilding centre and port. Its heritage dates back to more than a thousand years, with its ancient churches, museums and cemeteries. There is no lack of tourist attractions in the city, making it a popular tourist destination in Europe.
