For those who keep geology near and dear to their hearts, this place is for you.  The Museum of the Earth of Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw was first established in 1948 and houses over 170,000 specimens and objects in exhibitions that cover most geological sciences, with displays that also cover Polish minerals, precious stones, meteorites and rocks.

There are also interesting displays on Baltic amber (which is mostly sold in the northern Polish city of Gdansk), fossil flora and fauna and archival documents on the history of the Earth Sciences.  There are also open-air exhibitions (with good weather pending) that includes an exhibition on nature and art and the Lapidarium which showcases building stones in Poland.  To sum it up quickly, this place rocks.

The museum is located on Aleja Na Skarpie and open from Monday to Saturday from 9:00am to 6:00pm (the museum is closed on Sundays).  For more information, contact +48 22 629 74 97.
