First built in 1272, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptish in Wroclaw is the home of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Wroclaw and a landmark of the city.  Located in the Ostrow Tumski district, it is a Gotchic church built with Neo-Gothic additions and is the fourth church to be standing on the site.

The cathedral holds the largest pipe organ in Poland built in 1913 by Walcker Orgelbay for the Centennial Hall, formerly the largest organ in the world.  It is also the burial site of several notable religious figures, including Prince-Bishop Count Papatine Francis Louis of Neuburg, Archbishop Bloeslaw Kominek and Archbishop Adolf Bertram, who died in 1991.  For more information on opening hours, admission, and guided tours in English, go to www.archidiecezja.wroc.pl.
