Albufeira is a picturesque town and tourist resort in a bay of the southern Portuguese region of Algarve. Located about 40 km west of the airport at Faro, the town has satellite developments and resorts like Montechoro and Areias de São João to its east.
Albufeira has hot summers and dry winters. The sea breeze from the nearby Mediterranean Sea moderates the summer temperatures. The average temperature ranges from 15°C to a progressively higher 28°C in July. The region also counts nearly 3,000 hours of sunlight in a single year.
The town has an estimated 20,000 inhabitants, but in summers, this figure increases with the influx of tourists ready to experience an authentic Portuguese town with its traditional whitewashed houses and inviting Portuguese cafes.
