Portugal is a service-based economy. It is the world’s leading producer of cork and is an important worldwide exporter of Port Wine and Madeira Wine. Tourism is a significant revenue-generator for the economy. Other industries include oil refineries, textile, automotives, cement production, furniture and paper. An average of at least 75 € to 120 € is required per day of stay in Portugal. Travelling is not too expensive as the country has a good network of buses and trains.
