The Ponte 25 de Abril Bridge or 25th April Bridge had opened in the year 1966 and is considered as the first bridge built in Lisbon to cross to the southern bank. This bridge crosses the 2,000 meters wide, River Tagus at Lisbon. This is a suspension bridge which connects the city to Almada municipality on the left bank of the Tagus River. Its length is 2,277 meters and is the twentieth largest suspension bridge in the world.
