Belem Palace is located in Lisbon and it is the official residence of Portugal’s president since 1910. It is situated high up in gardens on a gently sloped hill. It was built in the year 1559. The Presidency Museum is a part of the palace and can be visited every day. It is a main tourist attraction which tells the story of Portuguese Republic and its Presidents.
It also explains the history of the national flag and anthem. The eye-catching design and interiors was made in the 18th and 19th centuries. This palace is also used to house foreign visitors. In front of the palace is a square with well-tended gardens and a statue of Afonso de Albuquerque, the Viceroy of India. Make sure you stop by for a visit!
