Maritime Museum
The Maritime Museum is located at north-west wings of the Jeronimos monastery and has an interesting collection of historical naval displays and artifacts. The museum was founded by King Luis on 22nd July 1863. This is one of the famous museums at Lisbon.
The museum has 17,000 artefacts which includes a very extensive collection of ship models covering different eras, and around 30,000 photographs. The entire museum focuses on the role of Portugal in discovery and trade. One can find Vasco da Gama tomb near Igreja de Santa Maria de Belem
