Lisbon is a hilly place and while hiking one would require a comfortable pair of shoes. The airport is in close proximity from the center of the city so do not allow the taxi drivers to fool you by taking long drives around the city.
The pavements in the city have gaps with missing stones where one can trip with high heel shoes hence it would be best to avoid wearing them.
Strolling in the city at night can give some fascinating sights of the illuminated monuments; however Lisbon can be as dangerous at night as other big towns.
Avoid certain areas such as Baixa at night as the area is poorly lit and deserted.
The other areas to avoid at night are Eduardo VII Park and Praca da Alegria. Intendente and Anjos are notorious for their drug related activities.
