Tourist Guide Portimão
Portimão city is located in the Algarve region in the south coast of Portugal. It is an ideal beach holiday destination for tourists (both local and from outside the country), with its calm blue waters and sandy white beaches lining the coast. The city is located at the mouth of the Arade River and is an important harbour and port.
The weather is perfect for all-year round tourism, typical of Portuguese climate. Its sunny most of the day, and in summer, temperatures could rise as high as 40°C.
With a population of 35,000 people, this mainly commercially-oriented town is the main hub for the coast’s booming sardine industry.
Although it has considerable natural beauty, Portimão is virtually untouched by tourists and has managed to retain its unique identity till today.
