Sabrosa is a municipality situated in Vila Real District in north of Portugal. Composing of 15 parishes, it is spread in total area of 156.9 square kilometers. It has a total population of 6,835 inhabitants. This city is also the birthplace of the explorer, Ferdinand Magellan. This city is set among the vineyards above the River Pinhao. Somewhat a sleepy place, it has a wealth of 15th century houses. Sabrosa is popular for its full bodied locally prepared red wine at the Adega Cooperativa winemaking plant. The nearby town of Vila Real is also worth visiting for its Gothic cathedral, the Luso-Roman rock temple and the Mateus Palace.
