The whole of Romania faces the problem of a large stray dog population on the streets. Keep away from them and do not try to play with them as they can become aggressive at times.
A general warning is to be careful in Brasov, especially at train and bus stations. You should always be aware of where your possessions are making sure you are not holding them loosely and never leave them down.
Pick pockets are a threat in Brasov, so be vigilant when walking around. Many locals will stop tourists in the streets to talk to them, but, they may be interested in either begging or in stealing your money.
It is advisable not to stop and talk to such people. Also, be careful while walking in the streets as there are many potholes. You should not wear flashy jewellery and watches as it could attract negative attention and make you a target for thieves.
