Ciao Romania drives you by an exciting tour around the beautiful city of Bucharest.
Founded more than 500 years ago on the banks of Dambovita River by ruler Vlad Tepes (the legendary count Dracula) Bucharest has quickly become a great European metropolis.
The city still has marks from the communist period, but apart from this, modernity spreads out all over the city. Actually, today Bucharest is an exciting city with nightclubs and sidewalk cafes, opera house and art museums, parks and gardens.
Bucharest is a city full of attractions to visit and places to be discovered. Previously known as the "Little Paris" (in the 30’s) due to its artistic life, large boulevards and “fin de siecle” architecture" - and of course due to its Triumphal Arch ( the little brother of the one in Paris) and due to its Unity Boulevard ( the longest boulevard in Bucharest, with 41 fountains and 1 meter larger than Champs Elisee) - the city has really many attractions and places to be visited.
Our Bucharest Tour includes the visit of the Parliament’s Palace - the biggest building in Europe and the second in the world after the Pentagon, the symbol of the Communism Era, followed by a visit of the Cotroceni Palace - the ex residence of the Romanian Royal Family, from the time of the monarchy.
Near it there is a residential area full with old villas in style - Cotroceni area, situated on the Dambovita Quay, occasion to see the old face of Bucharest with small streets and beautiful old houses.
After this we will visit the open air Village Museum, a miniature of the rural Romanian life - a very characteristic museum, situated in the biggest park in Bucharest - Herastrau Park.
Then we return towards the city center passing through Victoria Square (Grigore Antipa Museum, Romanian Peasant's Museum, Government Palace ) and then Victoria Boulevard ( George Enescu Museum, Art Collection Museum, Romanian Athenaeum, and the Royal Palace).
Here you will see the Revolution Sqare when you can even see the bullets holes in the buildings remembering the revolution in '89.
Going straight to University Square we will stop for a walk in the historical center of Bucharest, the old Lipscani Street, Smardan Steet, Stavropoleos Street. Here we will admire an old Orthodox church - Stavropoleos Church, a typical Romanian Inn - Hanul lui Manuc and the Old Court ( from the time of Vlad Tepes ). You won't miss the oldest beer pub in Bucharest- "Caru cu bere" where we will enjoy a cold home made beer! "
The Bucharest tour lasts about 5 hours ( starts at 10.00 and lasts till 15.00 ) you will have at your disposal a car with driver and a local guide. Tickets to museums and palaces are not included.
Waiting for you in Bucharest...
