The National Museum of Art of Romania has a collection of contemporary and traditional Romanian art collect by the Royal Romanian family. There are sculptures, paintings and an international collection of works by renowned artists.
The National Museum of the art is situated at Calea Victoriei No. 49-53, 70101 Bucharest. It remains open on Wednesdays to Sundays from 10AM to 6PM and is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The curator recently received the award from UNESCO.
This leading art-museum of Bucharest was founded in 1948 primarily for housing the Royal Collection and other precious artifacts from several other museums of the city. They aim to provide a through view on the Romanian art from early middle-ages to the present-era.
The museum is divided into separate sections such as medieval art, modern art, paintings and sculptures, oriental art and contemporary art.
Notable artists of the artwork are Nicolae Grigorescu, Constantin Brancusi, El Greco, Alfred Sisley and Stefan Luchian. They also have various branches located throughout the city. The museum is presently closed for major renovation work but travelers can visit other branches in the city.
