Sector 3 seems and odd name to have survived into present day use in a modern European city and perhaps in this can be seen the certain tension between the old and the new which characterises Bucharest now. With a population of 393,226 people based on a July 2005 estimate, Sector 3 is the most populous sector in Bucharest. According to the 2002 census, 97.29%2525 of the sector's population is ethnic Romanian, while 1.31%2525 are Roma, 0.29%2525 are Hungarian and 0.15%2525 are Turkish. It is a particularly interesting area to spend time in the city and its likely that you’ll find yourself here by default as it offers a good array of bars and restaurants.
The gorgeous Orthodox church here is one of the neatest little sights in the city and it is this authors particular recommendation for this area. Its small steeple is very sharply pointed, such that you can’t really make out why, but inside it is as beautiful as out and is well worth a visit.
