Romania was one of the poorest countries of the region after its difficult transition from Communism to a free economy. Its major industries include agriculture and manufacturing. Romania‘s chief exports include textiles and footwear while its imports consist of machinery and equipment.
The average daily budget for a tourist in Romania is about 120 L to 330 L. Travelling by taxi and train is cheap, but using a hired car is much cheaper.
