Beware of unlicensed money dealers as you may be cheated; exchange money only at authentic banks or exchanges.
Be careful while using the public transport system and while moving around in the railway station or market areas as thefts and pick pocketing are common here.
When travelling by car be careful as there are road works on most of the city roads and buy a TELPARK before parking as one can be fined as much as 150 euros if caught without a parking ticket.
There are no buses or trains available from the airport and taxi drivers may charge up to five times the fare.
Therefore it is a good idea to decide the fare in advance or only use taxis which have a meter which calculates the fare from departure to destination.
Carry small change to use when paying locals as they may not give you change. It is advisable to carry Romanian currency to avoid any problems.
