Red Square is probably the major attraction in Moscow, and one of the most famous city-square all over the world, separating the Kremlin, the official residence of the president of Russia and the Royal Citadel from a famous trade district known as the Kitay–gorod (China Town).
Lenin’s Mausoleum, which houses the body of the famous Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, the founder of the Soviet Union, is located in Red Square. This makes Red Square a major historic attraction.
Lenin’s Mausoleum is a beautiful sight to view at night. A wax copy of Lenin’s body lies on display inside the large Mausoleum.
The beautiful Saint Basil’s Cathedral is also located in Red Square.
Red Square has been the venue for many historical military parades in the past. The world famous GUM department store, covering a large area, is located on one side of Square.
Red Square is a good place for a walk in the evening and even at the night, especially in the more pleasant seasons.
