Kazan Cathedral
The Kazan Cathedral is a beautiful cathedral Russian Orthodox Church which is situated on the Nevsky Prospekt in St. Peterburg. This cathedral is dedicated to the Our Lady of Kazan and is the most acclaimed icon in Russia. The construction of this historic building started in 1801 and continued for over ten years. It is believed that the Bolsheviks closed the cathedral for the service in 1929 and in 1932 they housed collections of the museum of the history of Religion and Atheism. A couple of years ago, regular services were resumed.
