The Saint Petersburg Mosque was opened in 1913 and it is one of the largest mosques in Europe. It is beautifully carved and has minarets attaining 49 meters in height and the dome rising 39 meters high. It is situated in the downtown of St Petersburg and can accommodate five thousand worshippers.

The construction of this mosque began in 1910 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the reign of Abdul Ahat Khan in Bukhara. There is a separate department for females and males for worship. The walls of this mosque are made up of grey granite whereas the dome and minarets are covered with sky-light-blue color ceramics. The craftsmen were specially imported from Central Asia to design this mosque. Internally, the facets are decorated with the wordings of Quran.
