Things to Do in Podgorica: attractions to See in Podgorica

Podgorica: Attractions and more...

Stara Varos, the old town, and the suburb of Drac reflect the Turkish influence on the city; mosques and an old clock tower are housed in this unique neighbourhood laid with narrow curvy streets.  St George’s Church from the medieval period and King Nikola’s Castle which has been converted into a museum are the other attractions.

The Scadar Lake, which is the largest lake in the Balkan area, in a sunny valley in the vicinity and the surrounding natural park make for a good one-day trip. The archaeological excavations of the old Roman settlement, Duklja, and more than 2,300-year-old ruins of the fortress of Meteon lie just outside the city.

Podgorica is well known for its numerous bars, cafes and restaurants scattered all over the city centre. While shopping in Podgorica, beware of counterfeit brands sold by the boutiques in the city centre; open markets in the outskirts are great for bargain buys.
