The crowded buses in the city make it difficult to travel. There are also many pickpockets in the city so be careful while travelling by public transport and keep your money and documents safely.
Stray dogs can be a nuisance and there have been cases of some stray dogs attacking people in groups, however it would be wise to travel in crowded areas and stay away from them in general
The taxi drivers charge double rates to tourists so avoid them and take cabs which run by the meter. The latest travel warning for US citizens travelling to Serbia is to avoid areas where political demonstrations take place such as the US embassy, especially on dates of historical importance as they can turn violent at times.
It would be safer for US citizens travelling here to register at their nearest embassy so that they can be provided with the latest information on travel and safety.
