Nis, a city of Nisava is located on the banks of the Nisava River. As the biggest city of South Serbia it has a population of around 250,000 people. Niš Constantine the Great Airport is the international airport of the country, having a destination code of INI. It is the administrative centre of the Nišava District. Nis is located at the crossroads of the Central European highways and Balkan and links Asia to Europe. Since ancient times the city is considered as the gateway among the East and West. Nis has notable 13 faculties and gained fame as a university centre. It is also one among the best industrial centres in Serbia, and includes the tobacco industry and the textile industry. It is believed that during 2013, Nis will conduct the Ecumenical Assembly of Christian Churches. The city’s climate is both moderate and continental, bearing an average temperature of 11.2 degree Celsius. July brings warm hot weather and January brings freezing cold.
