The prices charged to tourists are higher than those charged to the locals for everything from drinks, to pubs, shops and restaurants as well. In spite of this the place offers good value for money. The winter can be chilly so do not forget to pack warm clothes if you visit in this season. In general the city is safe for tourists but like any other city it would be safer not to venture out late at night in dimly lit streets or alleys as you can be pestered by beggars or thieves. Be careful with you luggage and money as pick pocketing is a common problem.
