The capital Ljubljana is a vibrant, cobbled city steeped in history and lined with architectural wonders. The Town Hall, located across the Ljubljanica River, is a fascinating site with its baroque fountain and courtyards. The Ljubljana Cathedral has some impressive frescoes and is regarded as the finest ecclesiastical building in the country. Other popular cultural attractions are the City Museum, the National Museum, the National Gallery, Plecnik’s House and the Modern Art Gallery.
The cave of Postojna features gigantic stalagmites and a huge hall. The coastal Piran is lined with Venetian architecture. Swimming in the Adriatic is a wonderful experience.
The port of Koper has many attractions worth visiting. While exploring the town, one can visit the Town Tower, the fifteenth-century Cathedral, the loggia and the Praetor’s Palace; other places of interest are the Roman-style Carmin Rotunda and the Provincial Museum.
