Algeciras: Attractions and more...
Although Algeciras is known primarily as an industrial hub, what most people do not realise is that it is also a lovely place to visit. The city is home to many beautiful beaches where visitors can indulge in a variety of water sports, sunbathe, or sample the local delicacies at the many bars, restaurants and cafes situated along the promenade.
The city also has many interesting monuments such as the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Palma and the Capilla de Nuestra. The Los Alcornocales Natural Park, which is situated nearby, is a feast for nature-lovers due its beautiful scenery and variety of flora and fauna.
Algeciras is also well connected to Africa, Italy and South America by sea. In fact, tourist and locals frequently catch a ferry to engage in some exotic shopping in Tangier's Kasbah.
The city is also known for its many fiestas that are held around the year. The most popular ones include the Fiesta de Los Reyes, the Las Adas and the Carnival.
