The fifteenth-century Cathedral, a combination of Gothic and Renaissance architecture, is one of the most important attractions in Almeria. The city houses the magnificent Alcazaba which is an Arab fortress built by the Caliph of Cardoba. Almeria is also home to a number of historic monuments like the Muralla de Jairan, the Almeria Museum and the Almeria Solar Platform Centre.
For all the nature buffs, the Aquarium and the Cabo de Gata National Park are must-visits. Some of the other popular locations include Los Millares and Cuevas Castle. The city also houses the famous Crystal Cave, filled with gypsum crystals.
Some of the most popular Almeria festivals include San Juan, Winter Festivals and San Esteban.
While visiting Almeria, be sure to sample some of the delicious local cuisine from the wide range of restaurants available throughout the city. Some of the local delicacies include gurullos, trigo, and gachas.
