Cathedral de la Merced
In the 17th century, the Cathedral de la Merced was constructed in Huelva which consists of an image of the patroness of the town, La Cintra.
La Concepcion
In the 14th century, the La Concepcion was built in Huelva and it comprises of two small-sized pictures of Zurbaran. Also, Nuestra Senora de la Cinta consists of some azulejo tiles that are a remembrance of the visit paid by Columbus to this church.
San Pedro Church
The San Pedro Church dates back to the 14th Century, although it was open to the public only in the 17th Century. The church was built on the ruins of an earlier mosque. One comes across a sculpture of San Pedro (Saint Peter) in the upper chamber of the church. The Church is a house many important works of art.
Columbus Statue
There is an impressive statue of Columbus that has a height of 34 meters at Punta del Sebo, which is located at the southern end of Huelva. This statue acts as a guard of the bridge over the Rio Tinto.
Aracena
The beautiful small hill town of Aracena is situated close to Huelva. It has an altitude of 682 meters and this can be reached by a local road that runs northwards from Minas de Rio Tinto through the Sierra Aracena. The town Aracena is encircled by plantations of almonds, figs and olives and has a pleasant weather. Due to the above, it has become a famous health resort.
