Jerez de la Frontera can be described as a municipality located in Cadiz province, within Andalusia community, southwestern Spain.
Jerez de la Frontera lies midway between mountains and sea. It has become communications and transportation hub of this province, thereby having surpassed even Cadiz, i.e. provincial capital.
As far as land area is concerned, Jerez de la Frontera is the biggest municipality all over Ansdalusia. Its ‘sprawling’ outlying regions prove to be fertile zone with respect to agriculture. Plus, there are loads of horse-breeding operations and cattle ranches.
Jerez de la Frontera, at the time of Iberia’s Muslim occupation, was known as Xeres or Xerez. Frontera, in name, refers to location on border between Christian and Moorish areas of Spain during those times.
As of 1st of January, 2008, population of Jerez de la Frontera was found to be 205364.
