Tourist Guide Puerto de la Cruz
Puerto de la Cruz, located on the northern part of Tenerife, is situated in the Orotava Valley. Situated in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the region is one of the main tourist centres of the Tenerife Island, with a total population of around 31,000 inhabitants.
The city has a mild and pleasant climate, characterised by cloudy, rainy days. The lush greenery and vegetation of the city are a result of this type of climate.
Initially known as Puerto de la Orotava, the region was first discovered in the seventeenth century. The region served as a major port for the Orotava Valley, which was used for wine and fish export.
The inhabitants of Puerto de la Cruz are Portuense. Tourism is the major money-earning sector in the city, and the ‘free port’ status of the island brings in imports from all over the globe.Explore map
