Situated in the heart of the city, the Jardines del Guadalquivir in Seville in La Cartuja is a modern-art garden built for the Expo ’92 within the exhibition site as a resting area.  The theme for the Expo was “The Age of Discovery,” and was organized to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the discovery of the Americas by Christopher Columbus.

When the expo ended, many of its pavilions were dismantled with a few exceptions, including the garden area.  Today, the site is divided between a research and development park called the Cartuja 93 and a theme park called the Isla Magica (the Magic Island) which hosts the Pavilion of Spain.  The garden area is still a great place to visit and relax during your trip to Seville.
