Tarifa is home to some of the most beautiful monuments and windsurfing spots in Europe. The Church of San Mateo which boasts of rich Gothic architecture is a popular location. The Puerta de Jerez and the City Walls are equally popular.
While visiting Tarifa, be sure to visit the Castle of Guzman el Bueno which is built on the ruins of a Roman military camp and is a must-see.
The city, popularly known as the ‘Wind Capital’, provides its visitors windsurfing and kite surfing opportunities. Some of the most popular surfing spots are the Playa Chica, Los Lances, Rio Jara and Bunker. The Punta Paloma, Las Dunas and Spinout are also popular locations, ideal for surfing activities.
The Carnival, the most important event of Tarifa, is celebrated throughout the city with parades, music, costumes and dance. The city is also home to an exciting nightlife with its wide array of pubs and discos.
