Zaragoza: Attractions and more...
Zaragoza is a city full of customs and culture. It offers the visitor a rich historic heritage which is deeply influenced by the four major civilizations that flourished here: the Iberians, Romans, Moors, Jews and Christians. This city is also famous for Aragorn cuisine; considered by many to be among the finest cuisines in the world.
The most impressive building in the city is the Basilica de Nuestra Senora del Pilar. This giant church commemorates the appearance of the Virgin Mary in the first century. The Catedral de la Seo is a sixteenth-century gothic cathedral that was built over an older Roman temple. It was later embellished with neoclassical, baroque and plateresque architectural styles. The magnificent Palacio de la Aljafería is an eleventh century palace built in the Moorish style.
The Fiestas del Pilar is celebrated every year on 12 October. The elaborate festivities and celebration last for nine days and are a must see.
