The Balearic Islands is an archipelago in west Mediterranean Sea and is near to the east coast of the Iberian Peninsula. As per the Lycophrn's Alexandra verses, the islands were known as Gymnesiae. Its population as per the 2008 estimates was 1,071, 221 and has a total area of 4,992 square kilometers. It is also one of the foremost tourist areas in the country.
